With the bad weather we’re having here, I thought a get well gift would a lovely idea.
Check out my YouTube tutorial here:
So here’s how to make this tea bag holder.
Start with some coloured cardstock. Trim it to 11″ x 3 1/4″, round the corners and score at 3 1/2″, 4 3/4″, 8 1/4″ and 9 1/2″.
Pick your patterned paper and measure the panels you scored in order to cut the necessary pieces for your cardstock. Matt the cardstock, then fold and burnish all the scored lines.
Trim a piece of cardstock to measure 3″ x 4″ and score on the long side at every 1/2″. Then fold as follows: mountain fold, skip one section, mountain fold, skip one section and a last mountain fold. This way you create 3 small flaps on which you’ll add the envelopes for your tea bags. Glue into place the mountain folds. Affix this inner bit to the inside of the tea bag holder.
To create the envelopes trim 3 pieces of paper to measure 5 x 5″, then score. I use my handy score board which has a scoring guide for envelopes. If you’re using the We R Memory score board, place the scoring guide and align your paper to the 2 1/2″ alignment line and score on all sides. Cut away the corners created by the intersection of the scored lines, then fold and glue 3 of the flaps of the envelope.
Secure 3 envelopes onto the small flaps you created previously.
To create a closure for the envelopes: close the top flap, take a pencil and mark the tip of the flap, take a pointed tool and punch a small hole, but make sure it doesn’t go through the back of the envelopes as well. Then use a large brad or a flower or anything else that will help to keep your envelope closed.
Use the same technique to create the closure of the tea bag holder.
And you’re done!
